Banton's Blog - Day One

Wayne State University senior shortstop and All-GLIAC First Team selection Jaci Banton is providing daily blog entries to wsuathletics.com as the Warriors get set to play in the 2010 NCAA Division II Softball Championship tournament this week in St. Joseph, Missouri.

As I sit and watch the season premiere of The Bachelorette, I can't help but think that Roberto has a fighting chance, but also that this week will define for me the best year of my college softball career. Its been only a few days since the Ashland game and the girls are itching to leave for Missouri. Well, some of us are terrified of flying so I should say, the girls are itching to be in Missouri.

Our eagerness has been building steadily as we began to hear the news of what was in store for us at nationals. Fireworks, a children's clinic! We knew that nationals would be something special and we can only imagine the feeling of actually living it.

So, as we have our final practice on the Wayne State softball diamond, we will be thinking about all of the possibilities in store for us. Will we be national champions? We know in our hearts that we will give everything we can to realize our goals. For the seniors, our final games are about to begin. This chance doesn't come around very often. I know that as I dig my feet into the batters box, that pitcher will be facing 22 years of hard work that I am not about to let go to waste.

See you in Missouri.
