Banton's Blog - Final Edition

With assistance and guidance from Rebecca Stanley!!

Saturday marked the end of our season with a tough 1-0 loss. While tempted to concentrate on the things we could have done, should have done, we choose to focus on the positives. The things we accomplished and the memories made. I personally can say that this is the best season of softball I have ever played in and am truly lucky to have been given the chance to share it with some incredible, talented people. The memories we have made here will last a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who has followed us this year. Your support has inspired us to be our best and achieve more. We give a special thanks to all the "Super Fans" who drove down to see us play our final games at Nationals.

Also, a special thanks to our four seniors who have accomplished incredible careers as Warriors.

Below is a short recap of each senior by Rebecca Stanley.

Jaci Banton, I will miss our left side of the diamond bond. We created a special form of communication in always knowing who would have the bag, where each other would be and if I wasn't able to get to a ball I knew you would track it down and make the play. She was a rock for us at shortstop and has kept improving throughout her career to become a solid hitter, bunter and base runner. Jaci and I played word association before every inning to keep ourselves relaxed and smiling and some of her favorite words were platypus, tooth decay, socks and of course...panera. NICE!

Steph LeClair brought a lot of passion and intensity to the game to always keep everyone focused at the task at hand. She had four solid years here which is evident when looking at the statistics she put up and records she's set. One special memory I don't think anyone will forget came last year when we had to scamper left field for her tooth in between games only to be fooled by many sunflower seeds and rocks but no tooth.
Thanks for always backing me up on balls I missed and allowing me to create the expression "you're the left field to my third base" meaning, you've got my back. #3 was a great all-around player.

Nicole Abel showed great leadership this year as she served as a co-captain. She was always heard providing support for everyone with her loud cheers and whistles. She was dominant in the circle with her mean rise and curve and over powered a lot hitters. She also stepped up when hitting to come through with a lot of clutch hits. HERE WEEE GOOOO ABESSSS!!!

Casey "don't let em score" Hanes also showed a lot of leadership this year as our other co-captain. The performance she put on while wearing the green and gold was unlike any other. She brought intensity and maturity each time she stepped on the field. The achievements she attained were a direct result of the time and effort she put in, especially with those colourful heavy balls that always hurt my hand to catch with.

Girls, stay classy.

Yay us!!
