In the recently released final NCAA Division II softball stats for the 2010 campaign, Wayne State finished as the national leader in ERA (1.12).  WSU tied for the second-most games played (65) with Angelo State, just behind Arkansas-Monticello at 68.

The Warriors' 444 innings pitched was second nationally, while the 1.12 ERA edged national champion Hawaii Pacific, who registered a 1.13 ERA.

WSU was 11th in winning percentage (.800/52-13) and fifth in victories with 52.  Wayne State was ranked 40th in fielding percentage (.964) and 46th in batting average (.314).  The Warriors also had the second most fielding assists (594) just behind Caldwell's 595.

Individually, senior pitcher Casey Hanes (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) was the national leader in ERA (0.58) despite pitching 27 more innings (327.7 to 300.0) than anyone else in Division II.  Camille Gaito of UC-San Diego was second at 0.96, while Quincy's Torie Bunzell was third at 0.00.  North Georgia's Sarah Phillips, who pitched 300 innings, was fourth at 1.00.

Hanes' ERA was also the best in the NCAA from all three divisions (Division I leader -- Lipscomb's Whitney Kiihnl at 0.95; and Division III leader -- SUNY Cortland's Katie Finch at 0.68).

Hanes trailed only Phillips in wins (42 to 44) and shutouts (19 to 23), and Charleston's (WV) Stefanie Rossman in strikeouts (366 to 385).  Hanes was third nationally in hits allowed at 3.72 per seven innings.

Sophomore outfielder Alison Allen (Redford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) was 96th in batting average (.402), but tied-for-third in hits (90) and 23rd in toughest to strikeout (8 times in 224 at bats).

Senior shortstop Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ont./Cardinal Carter) was fourth nationally in sacrifice hits per game (0.27), while her total of 27 tied for second behind St. Leo's Ana Castillo, who had 33.

Sophomore infielders Becca Ryan (Westland, Mich./Dearborn Divine Child) and Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont./Waterloo C.I.) were ranked 47th and 60th nationally in toughest to strikeout.

Wayne State graduated four players from the 2010 squad which set the school record for wins in a season (52) and also became the first class in school history with three 40-plus win seasons.
