baseball camp action 2010
Ryan Kelley provided instruction to over 80 campers last Friday.

DETROIT - The Wayne State University baseball program conducted a successful two-day youth camp this past weekend, with 84 participants ranging from ages 7-16 working out with area coaches and WSU student-athletes.

The campers learned many new drills and exercises intended to hone their baseball skills as they move forward and advance in the sport.  In addition, they were entertained and educated by Detroit Tigers Jose Valverde and Austin Jackson, who held a Q&A and autograph session with the campers.

“We were excited to have members from the Tigers organization join us for another excellent summer camp. I believe the Tigers’ messages to the campers are very valuable and informative regarding their baseball development on and off the field," said WSU head baseball coach Ryan Kelley.  "We were thrilled to work with so many baseball camp participants from the Michigan, Ontario, and Ohio areas. I would personally like to thank the camp participants and families for joining us this year.  Plus, I would like to thank Detroit Tigers Bullpen coach Jeff Jones and the camp staff for helping put together a one of a kind camp opportunity. We look forward to seeing everyone again next summer.”
