Wayne State University redshirt senior catcher Michael Wiseman (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) was selected as the Player of the Year in the Horizon Air Summer Series, the league announced this past week.

Wiseman, playing with the Marysville Gold Sox, was also a First Team All-Series selection after batting .340 with three home runs and 26 RBI.  He led the Golf Sox in slugging percentage (.436) and committed just one error all season as the squad finished 33-13 in the Series, an 11-week competition among teams in the Western United States comprised of the best collegiate student-athletes in the country.

A First Team All-GLIAC and two-time All-Region selection this past spring, Wiseman batted a career-best .376 for the Warriors in 2010, helping the team earn the conference regular-season and tournament championships.  He will enter his senior year in 2011 ranked in the top 10 all-time at WSU in 10 different career categories, including third in RBI (143) and fifth in home runs (20), total bases (284) and walks (80).
