BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University senior Steve Cuzzort (Grosse Ile, Mich.) was chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Cuzzort became the third GLIAC Championship medalist in WSU history and the first since Ryan Johnson in 2004 (head coach Mike Horn was the first in 1985). He carded an eight-under par 208 (67-70-71), breaking the 54-hole school record of 213 set by Joe Spatafore in 1983 and Joe Juszczyk last season. Cuzzort's first-round 67 also matched the 18-hole school record.

In 14 rounds this fall, Cuzzort maintained an average of 70.93 to lead the Warriors.

Wayne State, which finished third as a team at the GLIAC Championship, is off from competition until the Ashland Invitational on March 28-29.
