Men's Basketball To Open New Arena Against Michigan

WSU Basketball Season Tickets On Sale Now

DETROIT -- The new Wayne State University basketball arena will officially open on Friday, November 5th as the Michigan Wolverines come to Midtown Detroit to face the Warriors for a 7 p.m. tip-off in an exhibition contest.

"I truly appreciate the willingness of Coach Howard and Warde (University of Michigan Director of Athletics Warde Manuel) to provide this opportunity to open our arena with the state's premier Division 1 program," remarked WSU Director of Athletics Rob Fournier.  "To me it underscores their genuine support for the City of Detroit and our community.

"I also want to acknowledge our promising collaboration with the Pistons organization as we actively launch our partnership especially Arn (Detroit Pistons Vice Chairman Arn Tellem) and my colleague Josh (Detroit Pistons Executive Vice President Josh Bartelstein), who over the past four years have been so instrumental in bringing this exciting alliance to our campus and to Detroit."

"I want to personally thank Coach Howard and his staff for helping us open our new basketball arena," commented WSU head men's basketball coach David Greer.  "It certainly has been a long time coming (the new arena) and the partnership with the Detroit Pistons made it happen.  To have a Division 1 program in Michigan be a part of our celebration of opening our new arena will make it a big event for our young men since Michigan is a big part of Detroit basketball."

Wayne State basketball (men's and women's combined) season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here.

The WSU basketball season ticket package will include the aforementioned exhibition game with the University of Michigan.  In addition, twenty percent (20%) of available tickets are reserved for current WSU students.
