Head coach Gary Bryce has his squad ranked 20th in the nation.
The Wayne State University softball team was ranked 20th in the nation in the 2010 NFCA Division II Top 25 Preseason Poll.

The NFCA Division II Top 25 is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.

The Warriors received 85 points, four more than Wayne State College in Nebraska.

WSU head coach Gary Bryce always plays a challenging schedule and 2010 will not be any different.

After facing Northern Kentucky in the season opener (on Feb. 19), WSU will play No. 29 Georgia College and State University later that day.

Wayne State will battle Southern Indiana and North Georgia on Feb. 20 in the Charger Chillout, and the Warriors will conclude tournament play against No. 2 North Georgia (WSU was one of only three teams to defeat the Saints prior to last year's College World Series) and No. 5 Indianapolis (dealt WSU two losses in the NCAA Regional last year) on Feb. 21.

The following weekend at the Catawba tournament, Wayne State will play at least one ranked team in East Stroudsburg (RV).

"We always play a tough schedule," Bryce said. "I always want to go up against the best. If you want to play for a national championship you have to play against the better teams to know what you have to do to get better."
