WSU Athletics since 1917
• Celebrated 100 years of athletics during the 2017-18 season. In the 109th year of athletics during the 2025-26 school year.
• 480 All-Americans in last 19 years, 548 since the Fall of 2000 and 805 all-time.
• WSU recorded its best 22 NACDA national finishes from 2002 until 2025.
• All WSU student-athletes posted a cumulative GPA of 3.451 through the winter 2025 semester.
• 78.99 percent of WSU student-athletes finished with a 3.0 or higher GPA during the winter 2025 semester, including 74 who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
• Six new buildings have been added to the athletics campus since 2010 (softball complex, Duchene Indoor Facility, Harwell Field, DeMars Football Locker Room. Athletic Performance Center and the Wayne State Fieldhouse).
• 67 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in the last 14 years (102 all-time) and at least one each of the last 19 years, including four Academic All-Americans of the Year (Catherine Leix/Swimmer At-Large in 2011-12; Cedric Drenth/Tennis in 2022-23 and 2024-25; and Anais Ruyssen/Tennis in 2023-24).
• WSU has five three-time CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in swimmers Trevor Jones and Elly Maleski, cross country runner Ransom Allen, and tennis standouts Cedric Drenth and Anais Ruyssen. There have been 20 two-time honorees in football (Lane Potter & Kyle Toth), baseball (Tim Flannery, Paul Janas, Kevin Ponticelli & Karter Fitzpatrick), fencing (Ziad Elsissy), swimming (Manuela Ferreira, Matthew Laschuk, Catherine Leix, Hannah Loesch, Kayla Scott, Luka Cvetko, Jordan Fox, & Mikaela Senkus), softball (Jennifer Smith, Logan White & Lyndsay Butler), tennis (Daniel Grey), and track & field (Karrington Seals).
• Wayne State has produced 11 Team National Champions including the 2012 Women's Swimming and Diving program. Men's Fencing won seven NCAA Team National Titles between 1975 and 1985. Women's Fencing won three NCAA Team National Titles between 1982 and 1989.
• 46 conference titles in the last 18 years.

• First woman ever to compete in an NCAA Championship was WSU diver Dacia Schileru.
• 61 individual national champions since 2000.
• 3 National Coach-of-the-Year award recipients (Sean Peters-Women’s Swimming - 2013-14, Paul Winters-Football 2011-12 and Bryan Morrow-Men's Tennis 2021-22).
• 1 National Player-of-the-Year award recipient for football in 2009 (Joique Bell).
• 1 National Player-of-the-Year award recipient for women's basketball in 2014-15 (Shareta Brown).
