Softball Fifth Nationally This Week in NFCA Poll
Warriors drop one spot in national poll.

Senior shortstop Jaci Banton leads the 17-4 Warriors with a .358 batting average.

The Wayne State University softball team (17-4 overall) is ranked fifth nationally this week by the NFCA.  WSU had a 16-3 mark of games played through Monday, March 15.

The NFCA Division II Top 25 is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. 2010 records are shown. First-place votes are in parentheses.

WSU lost in extra innings to unanimous No. 1 North Georgia in the opening weekend of play at the Decatur Chillout in Decatur, Ala.  The Warriors compiled a 4-2 mark in Decatur, then won the Catawba Invitational the following weekend (Feb. 26-28) with a 7-0 mark.  Wayne State began play in the Rebel Spring Games last Saturday and has a 6-2 record in games played in Kissimee, Fla.  WSU will play two games a day Thursday, Friday and Saturday before returning to Michigan.

Men's Basketball
Scored in double figures twice last week, his fifth and sixth games in a row of 10+ points ... totaled 16 points Thursday against Ashland and a season-high 22 on Saturday vs. Lake Erie ... shot 80 percent (16-20) from the field over the two games ... also had four rebounds in each contest.

Won two individual events Friday at Findlay and joined the first-place 200 medley relay (1:52.21) ... was victorious in the 50 freestyle (25.15) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.49).
