Ten members of the 2010 Wayne State University softball team earned GLIAC All-Academic team honors as
announced by the league office.
Seniors
Nicole Abel (Kitchener, Ont./St. Mary's),
Jaci Banton (Richmond Hill, Ontario/Cardinal Carter),
Casey Hanes (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) and
Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont./Forest Heights C.I.) earned a spot on the GLIAC All-Academic squad, and were joined by five sophomores and a redshirt freshman.
Abel and LeClair were honored for the third time, while Banton and Hanes (both transfers) were recognized for the second time after being eligible for the first time in 2009.
Making their first appearance on the GLIAC All-Academic squad were sophomores
Alison Allen (Redford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy),
Sam Cain (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy),
Becca Ryan (Westland, Mich./Dearborn Divine Child),
Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont./Waterloo C.I.) and
Kristina Susalla (Garden City, Mich.), while redshirt freshman
Brittany Omelanchuk (Brooklin, Ont./Wilson S.S.) also was named to the team.
To be eligible for GLIAC All-Academic status a student athlete must have: a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
