DETROIT -- The Sporting News has released its pre-season Division II Top 25 poll and Wayne State is ranked ninth.

Writer Gregg Dewalt of the Florence (Ala.) TimesDaily stated "Wayne State (9-2) set a school record for wins last season and just missed a playoff berth.  Josh Renel, who rushed for 1,249 yards and 14 touchdowns, will lead the offense, while safety Jeremy Jones is coming off a five-interception, 10 tackles-for-loss campaign."

The Warriors begin the 2011 campaign with three consecutive home games beginning with a Sept. 3 non-conference match-up against the Blue Knights of Urbana University.
