Football Ranked Fifth Nationally By Lindy's Sports


The Lindy's Sports College Football 2012 Preview magazine is on newsstands now and features two pages on Division II.  Wayne State was ranked fifth in the country by the publication.

The Warriors are mentioned in the article by Derek Harper - "Minnesota-Duluth, the 2010 national champion, suffered a shocking upset in the quarterfinals to Wayne State, snapping a 14-game home winning streak. ... "Last season saw strong postseason runs from Wayne State, Winston-Salem State, New Haven and North Greenville, but traditional powers continue to lurk."

Harper's comment about the Warriors in his national ranking was "Can build on improbable run to title game (four road wins) behind Sr. QB Mickey Mohner.

WSU senior cornerback Aaron Cornett was listed on Lindy's 2012 All-Division II First Team.

Of the five games listed as "The Big Ones," WSU's contest at Grand Valley on November 3 was the only GLIAC game listed -- "Critical home game sandwiched in middle of telltale final three-game stretch for the Lakers."
